BACKGROUND

Matthew's experience in the law dates back to his school days when we would attend at the offices of his father's legal practice in Bentleigh.  That invaluable early experience taught him about servicing the needs everyday clients - individuals with day-to-day legal problems which couldn't always be solved by simply referring to a book, case or precedent.

Matthew set upon the path to being an effective litigation lawyer when he worked for a leading commercial law QC in the mid 90s.

Since graduating in law in the late 90s, Matthew has worked in both small and large firms.

His range of work is extensive, from everyday disputes such as landlord/tenant disputes and negligence claims to working on large scale litigation or high profile matters such as the following:

  • he was part of the legal team which represented the State of Victoria and various statutory bodies in the Longford Class Action in the early 2000s;
  • he assisted the legal team for the AFL in the AFL TV Rights Case in 2004/05 involving Channels 7, 9 and 10, News Ltd, Foxtel and Optus;
  • he acted for several law firms in disputes involving high profile property developers and investors relating to the Laguna Quays joint venture;
  • he advised and acted for Racing Analytical Services Ltd relating to the recent VCAT appeal by two Victorian horse trainers against Racing Victoria in relation to cobalt charges.

For the past 10 or so years, Matthew has advised and acted for professionals (mostly lawyers) in professional indemnity claims against them which cover almost every area of legal practice, including claims related to property and conveyancing, wills and estates, failed commercial transactions and mortgage fraud.

Now, coming full circle, Matthew has returned to Bentleigh not far from where he used to visit his father's office many year ago.  Today, things are different.   Technological advances mean that Matthew's services will no longer restricted to the local community and he need not have an office close to the Court simply to ensure his client's documents are filed on time.

Whether your matter is large-scale litigation in the Supreme Court, a lease dispute in the local Magistrates, or the sale or purchase of a house or apartment, in Matthew you will find an experienced solicitor who will work for you to obtain the best result possible at a value-for-money price.
